Where are eucalyptus forests for sale in Spain?
In Spain, it is estimated that there are about 76,000 hectares of eucalyptus plantations. However, the sale of eucalyptus forests is mainly concentrated in areas with the largest number of plantations.
One of the areas where more eucalyptus is planted is the southwest of the Peninsula, especially in the provinces of Huelva and Sevilla, Badajoz, Cáceres, and Ciudad Real. It is also common to find it in the northwest, in areas of the Cantabrian and Atlantic coasts, including Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, and the Basque Country.
What factors should be considered when evaluating the purchase of eucalyptus forests for sale?
When considering the purchase of eucalyptus forests for sale, it is necessary to take into account different factors such as the commercialization age, climate, soil, or planting time.
The eucalyptus is a fast-growing plant compared to other trees like pine or oak, and can live between 50 and 100 years. However, it requires a growth period of 10 years before it can be felled and its products commercialized. Only after these years, the optimal yield for commercialization is achieved.
When looking for eucalyptus forest options for sale, it is important to identify geographical areas with suitable climate conditions for planting. Eucalyptus trees require warm temperatures, with the optimal range being between 20º and 30ºC, and they do not tolerate frost. Additionally, they require a humid climate with evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year.
Regarding the soil, eucalyptus trees prefer well-drained soils as they do not tolerate prolonged waterlogging, but they do need deep soils rich in organic matter that retain moisture, although not excessively. These trees can be planted in clay, loam, or sandy soils, but not saline soils. One of the most relevant soil factors is the pH, which must be between 5.5 and 6.5.
Lastly, the ideal planting time for eucalyptus in Spain is between September and December or between March and May. These months offer the optimal climatic conditions for development.
