BEAUTIFUL INDIANA HOUSE WITH A GREAT HISTORY IN THE AREA OF CAMPOS Y SALAVE, TAPIA DE CASARIEGO  ASTURIAS . The house began to be built in 1890 by an Indiano from Vegadeo who emigrated to Cuba and made his fortune. It was built with the finest-quality stone. It is considered a curious example of an Indiano house because, unlike other emigrants who returned with their fortunes and built very ostentatious, showy mansions, he wanted to pay tribute to the small village houses typical of his native area by building a large house with the same design but on an enormous scale. In 1895, the Cuban War broke out, and this man died without ever meeting his wife or seeing the house he was building. Construction suffered various delays; the wood for the staircase balustrade—Oregon pine—came from New York. The house was finally completed in 1900, but the widow never lived in it. It was acquired by its current owners in 2003 and renovated from top to bottom, replacing all the wood, with iroko floors, windows and balconies made of the same wood, beams and joists of old chestnut wood salvaged from the demolition of old houses, and elondo wood, an exceptionally hard tropical wood. The house has a ground floor, from which the sea can already be seen, as it is visible from every floor of the house; an entrance facing the staircase; the original stone floor; a main living room; a kitchen and dining room, with another exit to a side patio. First floor: a passage gallery, a main living room, and a separate guest area with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Second floor: a passage gallery and the main bedroom, the same size as the aforementioned living rooms. This bedroom is designed with double-height ceilings and is ready for an en-suite bathroom to be added. There is another large bedroom connected to the main bathroom, which is also large and has two doors. The attic is on the third floor. In its central part is the gallery, converted into a library, with a large window offering views across the entire region. Facing the sea is the lookout room, also fully glazed, from which Foz, in Galicia, can be seen. On either side of this gallery are two attic rooms with high ceilings, one of them connected to the main bedroom. The roof has been restored, as have the exterior walls, which received the best anti-damp treatment available on the market.
