Stone house to restore in Marnes on a rustic plot of 1.409m2 and a construction of 120m2
Marnes is a beautiful rural area that belongs to the municipality of Lliber, to the South of the Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante, Spain
Marnes sits nestled into the hillside at 500 metres above sea level and is located 6 kilometers from the village of Lliber. It currently consists of about 30 isolated houses and rainfed crops, mainly dominated by almond trees which flower in early February and are a delight to see spread along the classical dry stone wall terraces,so typical to this region of Spain.
Marnes was one of the many farmhouse hamlets that were depopulated following the expulsion of the Moors in the year 1609. This situation meant that Pedro Ixer Montagut, baron of Jalon-Lliber, was forced to establish cropland in favour of the Mallorcan settlers, that arrived from Santa Margarita and Llucmajor.
After the segregation from the neighbouring town of Jalon in 1645, Lliber claimed ownership of this lovely area.
Today Marnes is home to several rural guest houses,as the area is a hiker and nature lovers paradise, offering impressive mountain views and untouched nature to the visitor.
