In fact, of the 70 thousand hectares of greenhouse surface in Spain, nearly half is located in Almeria and 72% in Andalusia. In its livestock farming, the pig sector stands out, followed by the sheep and goat sectors. There are also other types of farms such as recreational and hunting farms.

Almeria belongs to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and is located in the extreme southeast of the Iberian Peninsula and the tourist region of Almeria-Cabo de Gata-Nijar. It is surrounded to the west by the Sierra de Gador, to the north by the Sierra Alhamilla and to the east by the valley and delta of the Andarax River and, beyond, a plain that culminates in the Sierra de Cabo de Gata. To the south, its port and coastline open onto a wide bay overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The Confederación Hidrográfica del Sur regulates Almería's water rights.
