The province of Castellón has 153 thousand hectares of Useful Agricultural Surface (UAA), of which 59% are woody crops, 31% permanent pasture and 9% arable land. The predominant herds of Castellón are pigs, with 758 thousand heads, and poultry. More than half of its area is dedicated to irrigated cultivation, with citrus crops, such as tangerines and oranges, almond and olive trees, and horticultural products. With an area of 576 thousand hectares of hunting reserves, in Castellón you can find hunting species of small game such as the thrush, pigeon, rabbit, hare or turtledove, and large game such as fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, mountain goat, mouflon or fox.
Castellón is one of the provinces of the Valencian Community. Located in the northernmost area, it is mountainous in the interior, with emblems such as El Maestrazgo and Sierra de Espadán. The Mijares and the Palancia are its most important rivers.
